There is no doubt that creativity is the most important human resource of all.
Without creativity, there would be no progress, and we would be forever repeating the same patterns ~ Edward de Bono

Meet our Featured Artist - Rene Kunert

Hello! Thank you so much for being our featured artist! Your work is amazing!
First can I ask you to introduce yourself and give us a little idea of what
you do?

Hello, my name is René Kunert and I am a graphic designer and owner of Rebel Dezigns. I
have always loved to draw and my mother always pushed me in the right direction. By
pushed... I mean, I was an annoying child and she gave me a pencil and told me to go draw
something lol
Now I have a girl of my own and catch myself doing the same thing.

What jobs have you done other than being an artist?

Oh the normal... Cashier, acrylic fabrication, construction worker. Ok, not so normal hehe I
have also worked in Wallpaper designing, icon development and web designer.
What art do you most identify with?
This is a tough one. I love all forms of art and even attempt it myself. I guess I prefer
drawing with charcoal, but that is my personal preference. I also LOVE a good photo
manipulation. I have done quite a few of those also. They are my creative outlet when my
spark of “mojo” is gone.

How do you work? (silence, music, away in a room etc...)

Depends on my mood really. A lot of times I will listen to music. Other times I love the
silence and will listen to the birds outside. And sometimes I will have a movie running in the
background.

Does music inspire, who are your favorites?

Hmmm yes, I do get inspired sometimes from music. Anything I can sing along with.
Favorites? I am not sure really. I can list a couple here. Tool is my all time fave, but I also
listen to Three Days Grace, Red, Disturbed, and quite a few others when getting the mojo
flowing.

What's your favorite art work you have done and why?

Hmmm another tough one lol. I would have to say it is the charcoal piece called “Twin
Dragons”. The two dragons are symbolizing my husband and me. I won't go into why, but
let's just say he is the dominant white one hehe

How have your designs changed over time

Oh dear, ummm. Yeah, I would say there is a DRASTIC change in the evolution of my art.
And there is a reason also. When I first started, I heard a lot of negative things all the time.
That is what fueled me. I already knew my art was not for everyone, but I wanted to know
just how far that went. I watched, and I listened, and I read the things people wanted to
see. I have tried to incorporate most of what I heard into my artwork. It is still not quite
where I want it to be, but it is getting very close now.

What couldn't you do without? ( work props, software etc..)

I absolutely couldn't live without my Photoshop. I use it for everything. Out of all the
software I have purchased, it is my most favoritest favorite ever. It is open every single day.
When my computer goes on, there are three buttons I click. Firefox, Thunderbird and
Photoshop. (I understand if you have to take out those names lol)

What's the best piece of advice you've ever been given?

Any advice I am given is taken and worked with. To me, ALL sound advice is the best advice.
I would have to say that my favorite piece of advice was “Don't let anyone stand in the way
of your dreams”. This came from my mother when my now ex-husband told me that I
couldn't travel because he didn't want to. I now am remarried and have lived on 3 continents
and 5 countries :)

Have you a piece of advice or inspiration for us?

I would have to pass along the same bit of advice ;) Don't let anyone stand in the way of
your dreams. If there is something you are passionate about, by all means, go after it.

Thank you so much for talking to us Rene it has been an absolute pleasure,
